Tiffany & Co.'s Yellow Diamond Collection

Exceedingly rare, only one in about 10,000 diamonds is a fancy colour and a huge proportion of those still fail to make the grade at Tiffany & Co. - a brand inextricably linked with exceptional yellow diamonds. The intimate relationship between the marque and the stone was consummated with the Tiffany Diamond, one of the largest yellow diamonds ever discovered. Weighing 128.54-carats, its cushion cut was designed to amplify the diamond's colour – and this iconic style has proved the inspiration for the new collection.

A particular highlight of the new line is the Tiffany Bezet, a contoured ring based on the traditional bezel. Featuring yellow diamonds cut in pear, heart, oval and cushion shapes; the jewels are set on 18 carat gold. They can be worn as standalone pieces or stacked on top of each other to form delicate towers of high jewellery perfection.

Meanwhile another showstopper pays homage to Tiffany's heritage, specifically Elsa Peretti's Diamonds by the Yard. A revolutionary piece of jewellery when it was premiered over 30 years ago, its timeless design remains spectacular and enjoys its latest evolution in a pear-shaped yellow diamond pendant set on 18-carat yellow gold or platinum.

Further examples of Tiffany's expertise were likewise displayed at this year's Oscars, where several of its yellow diamond creations graced the actress Kate Winslet. Held on March 7, the Academy Award winner donned an Art Deco-style yellow diamond necklace in platinum, a pair of 10-carat fancy intense yellow diamond drop earrings, and a set of yellow diamond bracelets. Derived from Tiffany's archives, the necklace features a triple-drop pendant comprising a 13.09-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond and two other fancy vivid yellow diamonds weighing approximately six carat each.

Radiating light, warmth and effervescence, the precious stones are sourced from Gem Diamonds' Ellendale mine in Western Australia - and sourced exclusively to Tiffany. The jeweller has signed an agreement with the mine giving it sole rights to its fancy colour yellow diamonds throughout its full economic life.

"The agreement gives us a unique opportunity to extend our diamond authority with exceedingly rare fancy yellow diamonds," said Jon King, executive vice president of Tiffany & Co. "The collection underscores our design heritage with settings that fully reveal the stones' natural beauty and warm yellow colour."

With the finest yellow diamonds in the world guaranteed and their knowledge and craft assured -UK Tiffany looks set to continue dressing the world's most beautiful people with the world's most beautiful jewels.
